The theft of copper items continues to be an issue for the Chatham-Kent Police Service along with residents and businesses within our Municipality.
While it is understandable that copper holds a dollar value when sold as scrap, this is minimal compared to the costs of the theft of copper products from businesses, new home construction sites and hydro sites. Not only is it dangerous to remove but it’s also very expensive to replace.
These costs have to be recovered and they are passed along to the consumer. Crime Stoppers is seeking information about anyone that is involved in the theft of copper.
